Solo Collective Theatre is proud to announce the winners of the 2013 Emerging Playwrights' Competition: Bill Marchant, Chala Hunter, Suzanne Ristic, and Patrick Keating.
Bill Marchant's short play is entitled Summer Teeth; Poor, a monologue, is written by Suzanne Ristic; Chala Hunter's winning entry is called Queen of the Dead; while Patrick Keating's one person show is entitled Plane Ride.
The winning pieces be showcased as staged readings as part of SOLO FLIGHTS at 8 p.m. on April 8 at Carousel Theatre Workshop Space on Granville Island, located at 1411 Cartwright Street, Vancouver. Admission is by donation.

Bill Marchant (top left) is a Vancouver based writer, actor and director. He is the head of the Department for the Acting Programs at Vancouver Film School. His debut film, Everyone, was the winner of the Zenith D’Or at the Montreal World Film Festival and the Amex Award for Best Film at Vancouver International Film Festival. His latest play, Blaze Orange, was selected for inclusion at the Citadel Writer’s Forum in Edmonton in 2012.
Chala Hunter (top right) hails originally from Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, where she was lucky enough to be surrounded by artists and open skies. She is a recent graduate of the Acting program at the National Theatre School of Canada and also studied at the University of Toronto (BA in Drama and French).
Suzanne Ristic (bottom left) worked as an actor for thirty years, most recently in My Mother's Story at Presentation House where she exercised a bit of writing muscle as a contributor. Her first foray as a writer was Angry Actors' collective creation: Famous Dead Stories We Just Made Up.
Patrick Keating (bottom right) is a Graduate of Simon Fraser University Patrick has been working in Vancouver within the theatre community for the past twenty years. He has been nominated twice for a Jessie Richardson Award for Acting. Some of the companies he has worked with include The Firehall, Headlines, Mortal Coil, Pi, Rumble, Touchstone, Urban Crawl and Main Street Theatre where he is proud to be an associate artist.
